British Antarctic Survey
The British Antarctic Survey (BAS) is the UK's national institute for polar research. It has a two-fold mission: to conduct polar science that enhances our understanding of global matters and to represent the UK actively in Antarctica. BAS is a part of the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) and has a dedicated team of over 400 professionals. BAS is deeply involved in Antarctic matters, running five research stations, one ship, and five aircraft in both polar regions, while also addressing important global and regional issues. This includes collaborative research with more than 40 UK universities and over 120 national and international partners. In support of BAS's various initiatives, Mission Room's Cube system has been installed in their Cambridge office to aid in data visualization, including their work on the Antarctic Infrastructure Modernization Programme.
